Joan Morris Stallard, 76, of Meadville, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born October 22, 1935 in Meadville, a daughter of Harley J. and Mabel Slocum Morris. She married Ronald E. Stallard July 2, 1955.
Joan was a 1953 graduate of Meadville High School, was a former cheerleader, and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority which she remained active for many years with other local members. She worked for Talon and then as a sales consultant for several years for Fashion 220.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joan enjoyed shopping, traveling, collecting antiques, loved her dogs, and had a strong love of music through singing and playing the piano and organ.
A woman of strong faith, Joan was affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church and was known for her positive outlook and graceful demeanor.
Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Ronald of 56 years, include a daughter, Kimberly A. Stanford and her life partner Craig Schenberg of Meadville; two sons, Robert Stallard and his life partner John Barnett of Erie and Douglas Stallard and his companion Ginger Shartle of Cambridge Springs; three grandchildren, Jennifer Furtwangler and her husband Ryan of Stuart, FL, Zachary Stanford and Vanessa of Meadville, and Tim Shartle of Meadville; two great-granddaughters, Kalli and Paisley Jo; two sisters, Marjorie Newton and her husband Ernie of Long Island, NY and Doris Swavey of Erie; a brother, Richard Morris and his wife Anne of Meadville; many nieces and nephews including MargieLou, MaryLee, Steve, Susie, Sandy, and Shawn; and also brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Goodnough, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
