Joanne Elizabeth Dodson, 69, of New Vernon Township, Stoneboro, passed away on April 27, 2021 at AHN Grove City. Joanne was born in Natrona Heights, Pittsburgh, on June 16, 1951 to the late Clifford and Lois Boney. She attended Highland High School and went on to graduate with honors from Penn State Extension – New Kensington, earning her degree in computer science. Her careers included working for First National Bank in Hermitage, Professional Nannying, Eat n’ Park, Werner Ladder Company, and Mercer County State Bank. While she enjoyed her professional careers, Joanne’s favorite titles were Mom and Nee Nee. Joanne Married her cherished, late husband, Kenneth “Kenny” L. Dodson on July 11, 1970. They proudly renewed their vows in the summer of 2020 after celebrating 50 devoted years together. Joanne was a member of Emmanuel Christian Church and was very active in her congregation. She served on the worship team, at the Resource Center, Mission Trips, Deep Valley Camp, and through many, many other ministry opportunities over the years. Joanne also shared her gift of public speaking to many women through her speaking engagements. Joanne enjoyed camping, gardening, music, and making memories with friends and family. She was a social butterfly who reminded people they are significant and most importantly tell them they are loved by Christ. Her love extended around the globe, always leaving a legacy of love and service. She is survived by her daughter Leanne Thiec and husband Brent of Stoneboro, and son Brad Dodson and wife Laurie of Nashville, OH, grandchildren Cole and Ellison Thiec of Stoneboro, and Malachi, Mackenlie, Carys, and Deacon Dodson of Nashville, OH. In addition to her parents and husband, Joanne was preceded in death by her sister, Janet (Boney) Huff. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. Visitation will take place at the Emmanuel Christian Church, 4495 Greenville-Sandy Lake Road, Stoneboro, on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2 pm – 5 pm. A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will take place at 5 pm at the church with Pastors Tim Clark and Brad Dodson Officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joanne’s name can be made to her family.
