John A. Miller, 87, a patient at Springs Manor, Cambridge Springs, for the past six years, died Thursday, October 26, 1989, after a lengthy illness.
Miller was born in Pittsburgh on September 26, 1902, a son of John and Elizabeth Bauer Miller. He married Mary E. Karns, who preceded him in death in 1949.
He retired in 1972, having served 55 years as machinist in the diesel shop for the former Erie Railroad. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge 408.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Birdwell of Santa Barbara, CA, Mary Annette Yoder of Carlisle and Bertha L. Thomas of Blossburg; three sisters, Amelia Gross, Edna Simmons and Arvella Miller, all of Meadville; five brothers, Carl, Elmer, Harry, Ralph and Howard Miller, all of Meadville; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Zimmerer; a granddaughter, Sally D. Thomas; three sisters, Clara Hogue, Marie Schultz and Laverna Maloney and a brother, Albert Miller.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
