John R. Haemer, 87, of 582 Limber Road, Meadville, died Wednesday, August 04, 2004 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
He was born April 23, 1917 in Meadville a son of John and Mary Smock Haemer. He married Dolores Romaine Kightlinger January 27, 1945 and she preceded him in death August 24, 2002.
He worked as a housing contractor and plasterer in the Meadville area most of his life. He retired as supervisor of the Theater shop at Allegheny College.
He was of the Protestant faith, a veteran of World War II with the US Army and he enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors, include: two daughters, Candace Maloney and her husband Ronald of Cochranton and Sharon Prenatt and her husband Terry of Meadville; eight grandchildren, John and Tom Hardenburg, Shelly Buckee, Jeffrey Klie, Kimberly Maloney Eppig, Travis Maloney, Jodie Deal and Julie Higgins; ten great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dodie Smith; one great grandson, Aidan Joseph Higgins; a brother, Henry Haemer; an infant brother, Conrad Haemer and one sister, Sylvia Irlam.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 1-2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will follow Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Haemer, Nephew, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
