John Benton Snedeker, 82, of 576 Gilmore Street, Meadville died at home Friday, April 8, 2005.
He was born in Meadville, April 6, 1923 a son on Roscoe and Ada Snedeker. He married Louise Young April 7, 1951 and she survives.
He retired in 1990 as manager of the Meadville office of Marquette Savings Association after 28 years of service. He was a graduate of Meadville High School and Allegheny College. He was a veteran of World War II with the US Army.
He was a member of the Meadville Country Club, the Taylor Hose Co., Huidekoper VFW Post 2006, Cambridge Springs American Legion Post #381, Elks Lodge #219, SCORE, Pioneer Investment Club and West Mead #2 Vol. Fire Dept. He enjoyed golf, playing gin and reading.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 54 years, include: one son, John R. Snedeker and his wife Kim of Cochranton; three grandchildren, Kayli Foulk, Tate Snedeker and Zachary Snedeker; one sister Emma Greenwood and her husband Donald of Ohio and two brothers, Roscoe Snedeker of Utah and Howard Snedeker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Snedeker.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with an Elks service at 7:15 p.m.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Leonard, Pastor of Cambridge Springs/New Richmond United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine Street, Meadville of the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
