John C. Gallagher, 56 of Sandy Lake, passed away on March 29, 2023 peacefully at his home. John was born in Franklin on September 13, 1966 to the late Leonard and Mary Ann (Nickolay) Gallagher. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School. John owned and operated Gallagher’s Auto for 28 years. He was a well-respected area businessman, always giving his customers quality and honest service.
John began racing motocross at the age of 6 and raced for Suzuki in his younger years. He met many life-long friends through racing and was still riding in December of 2019. He also enjoyed riding street bike with many close friends. He and his wife also enjoyed camping together with their camping crew. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Melissa. John always said “I have had a beautiful life since my first breath”.
John was a lifelong and active member of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, Stoneboro.
John is survived by his wife, Melissa Gallagher, at home, step-children: Nathan (Michaela) Whitehouse and Shane (Sarah) Whitehouse, grandchildren: Charlotte and Nolan, nephews: Cody Vogan, Ben Vogan, and Andy Hastings, niece: Allison Boozer, cousins: Shirley Lambert and Mary Zsak as well as many other cousins, aunts: Gen Pavlic, Theresa Beggs, and Catherine Lakomy, mother-in-law: Judy Tennant, as well as many dear friends.
In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his first wife: Brigitte Vogan Gallagher in 2002.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where a prayer service will begin at 11 am on Monday, April 3, visitation will follow the prayer service from 11:15 am – 2 pm, all at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2 pm at St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, 70 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, with Father Robert Manning, officiating.
Private interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
