John C. Scrivens

January 17, 1915 — October 16, 1983

John C. Scrivens, 68, of Meadville, died at Spencer Hospital Sunday, October 16, 1983, after an extended illness.

He was born at Greenville January 17, 1915, a son of Charles W. and Myrtle Peterson Scrivens.  He married Beryl Koon September 8, 1945.  He worked for 47 years at Carpenter Electric Co., and was briefly employed at Pennsylvania Electric Co.

A member of First Baptist Church and the church's MCR class, he was a US Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe.  He graduated from Meadville Commercial College.  He wa a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Solomon Royal Arch Chapter 191, NW Commandery 25, Civil Air Patrol, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He also was a life member of Meadville Rescue Squad.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Russell (Shirley) Loper of Conneautville, Mrs. Judith Johnston and Mrs. Janet Anderson, both of Meadville and Mrs. Richard (Linda) Kilburn of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Cecelia) Horton of DeBary, FL; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
