John Daniel Devore, 64, of 14026 Cemetery Road, Harmonsburg died at home unexpectedly, Friday, October 7, 2005.
He was born in Meadville May 10, 1941 a son of the late Howard and Margaret Hogan Devore. He married Rosemary Walsh June 20, 1998 and she survives.
He worked as a welder for Zurn Industries and the D.B. Riley Co. both in Erie retiring in 2004. In his retirement he worked part-time as a driver for Eells Used Cars and Towing Service in Meadville.
He served in the US Army from 1959-1962. He was a member of St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Mission in Jamestown, PA and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He was also an enthusiastic Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Rose, include: four daughters, Deborah Maciak and her husband John, Annette Devore, Pamela Kuna and her husband Thomas and Linda Lewis and her husband Thomas all of Erie; three sons, John (J.D.) Devore and his wife Carol, Jeff Devore and his wife Denise both of Erie and Douglas Devore and his wife Mellie of Newport News, VA; one step-son, Michael Sutherland; one step-daughter, Monica Sutherland; one uncle, Arden Devore and his wife Isabelle of Meadville; sixteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Following cremation, calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. The memorial service will follow at 8:15 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew Karg, Pastor of St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Mission, officiating.
