John E. Hauser, 81, of East Fairfield Township, died at Flickinger's Convalescent Home, where he had resided during the past eight months, Monday, November 7, 1960, after a long illness.
He lived in East Fairfield Township for three years and previously resided on Cutler Street in Meadville for 41 years.
He was born in Stroudsburg, February 16, 1879, a son of Martin and Rosella Turner Hauser.
Mr. Hauser married the former Laura Weiser on April 28, 1905. She preceded him in death.
He retired in 1945 from the Erie Railroad as a locomotive engineer. He was with the railroad 43 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church and was a 50 year member of Cussewago Lodge of Odd Fellows.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Ernie P. (Ann) Chandler of Meadville; two sons, Harry E. of Phoenix, AZ and Merle F. of Cochranton and seven grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
