John E. Lake, 84, of State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, died at home, Saturday, January 01, 2005.
He was born February 24, 1920 in Pittsfield, PA a son of Charles M. and Edith M. Pilling Lake. He married Ruth Irwin November 27, 1941 and she survives.
He retired in 1982 as an industrial engineer with Talon, Inc. after 42 years of service. He was a 1939 graduate of Meadville High School, a member of the NRA, Elks Lodge #219, Meadville Sportsmen’s Club and Talon Management Club. He was also a veteran of World War II with the US Army in Europe. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Ruth of 63 years, include: one daughter, Cynthia Hetrick of Meadville; two sons, John C. “Charlie” Lake and Eric I. Lake both of Saegertown; one sister, Ethelyn Lake of Meadville; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Peter S. Lake and two sisters, Helen Lake Smith and Marian L. Dahl.
A family memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
