John Edward Hamilton

November 4, 1925 — March 27, 1999

John Edward Hamilton, 73, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Marshaltown, IA, November 4, 1925, a son of John L. and Martha J. Johnson Hamilton.  He married Roma J. Cowden, October 14, 1951 at First Presbyterian Church in Conneaut Lake.

He served with the US Army during World War II.

He worked for the US Postal Service as a rural carrier for 35 years, retiring in 1987.  He was also a self-employed farmer with an apple orchard and sold various produce items for 35 years.  He was of the Protestant faith.  He was a member of Conneaut Lake American Legion Post No. 587, Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7842 and the Rural Letter Carriers Assn.  He enjoyed reading, antiques and yard sales.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Rebecca A. Natale of Wampun; three sons, Brian L. Hamilton (Watana) of Lascruces, NW, Guy S. Hamilton (Ellen) of Conneaut Lake and Alec J. Hamilton (Dr. Sarah Lumley Hamilton) of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Robert Hamilton, Brian Hamilton, Jennifer Hamilton, Stacey Natale and Thomas Natale; and a sister, Mrs. Oliver (Mary Jane) Dillon of Conneaut Lake.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn A. Hamilton.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in South Side Cemetery, Shermansville, PA.
