John F. Garver, 85, was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening.
Garver, of Union Township, Meadville, died Sunday, July 10, 1994, at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
He was born in Pittsburgh, April 7, 1909, a son of Joseph and Hettie Smith Garver. He married Mary Coggins, October 21, 1948. She survives.
He retired in 1969 as an electrical finisher with Allis-Chalmers in Pittsburgh after 30 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 472, Manor.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Ziemianski of Meadville and Barbara Ritchey of Meadville; a son, William Garver of Bandera, TX; a sister, Barbara Setler of Largo, FL; a brother, William Garver of Zelienople; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
