John H. Pierce, 90, of Meadville, died Thursday, April 17, 1969, at City Hospital where he had been a patient five weeks.
He was born at Britton Run, Sparta Township, January 23, 1879, a son of Sidney and Adaline Alsdorf Pierce. In 1900, he married the former Harriet Holmes. She died in 1940. In 1941, he married Emma Davison Flint.
Mr. Pierce was a retired 50-year veteran of the Erie Railroad Co., employed as a freight conductor. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving are his widow, three nieces, Miss Clara Pierce of Redondo Beach, CA, Mrs. Lola Pyler of DuBois and Mrs. Matie Wheeler of Reynoldsville; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Two sons, Walter and Merle, preceded him in death.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
