John H. Titsler, 74, of Meadville, died Thursday, March 19, 1959, at his home after a long illness.
He was born October 11, 1884, in Utica, Venango County, a son of John A. and Sarah Jane Campbell Titsler. He was married to Berenice Fish.
He was a school teacher and was retired for 30 years. He was graduated from Utica High School, and received his degree from Thiel College. He attended Columbia University for advanced courses. He taught a summer term at Thiel College. Titsler was supervising principle at Cochranton, Spartansburg and Edinboro schools.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, past master of Sparta Lodge 372, F & AM, Spartansburg; a member of Lodge of Perfection, Oil City; Consistory at New Castle and Zem Zem Temple in Erie.
Surviving are his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth I. Brown of Meadville and Mrs. Daisy M. Hickernell of Bakerfield, CA; a brother, William J. Titsler of Meadville; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Spartansburg Cemetery.
