John H. Verhoff

John H. Verhoff, 87, of Meadville, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Marquette Hospice House.

He was born September 17, 1929 in Lima, OH, a son of Romanus and Katherine Bayhen Verhoff.  He married Alice Koslow October 22, 1960 and she survives.

John was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from January 1951 to December 1952 stationed in Berlin, Germany.  He was a 1956 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.  He worked at Talon for 30 years as an inventory control manager.

John was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church.  He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing in his younger years, and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Alice of almost 56 years, include a son, Jeff Verhoff and his wife Mary Jane of Oil City; three grandchildren, Kurtis Horne, Samantha Horne, and Jonathan Verhoff; a great-grandson, Kyle Horne; nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog and faithful friend and companion, Sunshine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Powell.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville with Fr. Thomas Trocchio as Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006.
