John H.P. “Johnny” Shafer, 20, of 21299 Ball Road, Venango, PA died Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Meadville Medical Center following complications due to pneumonia.
He was born in Meadville September 1, 1981 a son of John R. and Constance Pattin Shafer.
He attended schools through U.C.I.P. (United Community Independence Programs), special classes at Meadville High School and home schooling. He enjoyed listening to all types of music. He also enjoyed his dogs and watching his cousins.
Survivors, in addition to his parents include, three sisters, Brenda Leone and her husband Ron of Erie, Laura Holsopple and her friend Clyde Stoll of Meadville and Jean Webster and her husband Mike of Venango; his paternal grandfather, Howard J. Shafer of Meadville; his maternal grandfather, Ridley Pattin of Northfield, OH and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jean Shafer, his maternal grandmother, Helen Pattin and his aunt Marianne Sheldon.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Watson Run Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
