John J. Fields, Jr.

April 1, 1922 — October 12, 2004

John J. Fields, Jr. 82, of Meadville, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Erie, April 1, 1922, a son of John J. & Wealtha V. Shea Fields, Sr. He married Mary Lou Miser December 4, 1943, and she preceded him in death November 18, 1999.

He was a 1939 graduate of Strong Vincent High School in Erie, attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland for 2 years, enlisted in the U.S./ Navy and graduated from Corpus Christie Texas Naval Flight Training Center.  He was a torpedo bomber pilot during World War II, and later flew with the Naval Air Transport Service.  He returned to Western Reserve University and earned his Bachelors degree in Business Administration.

He was employed as a Manufacturer’s Representative for several companies in the United States & Canada.  In 1964 he was one of the founders of Saegertown Manufacturing Co., Saegertown, leaving the company in 1980 to pursue other interests.

He was a former member of the Erie Yacht Club and the Meadville Country Club, a member of Elks Lodge #219, Meadville, and a life Member of the Maennerchor Club, Erie.

Survivors include a brother Donald Fields of Clearwater, FL, and numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Wealtha Schaper.

There are no services planned.

Memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge #219 Scholarship Fund, 15438 State Highway. #86, Meadville, PA 16335.
