John M. Carpenter, 62, of 32615 State Hwy 408, Townville died Friday, October 27, 2006 at his residence following a short illness.
He was born January 16, 1944 in Cleveland, OH, a son of Harold H. Carpenter and Elizabeth Sadowsky Carpenter Pratt-Barrows. He married Verla E. Deeter July 17, 1965.
He was a 1962 graduate of Townville High School and a 1965 graduate of the former Alliance College where he received his Associate Degree in Applied Sciences. He worked at various local Tool and Die Companies throughout his life as a tool and die maker and previously worked for Packard Electric, Warren, OH for 14 years. He enjoyed mechanics, carpentry, and especially gardening. He will be sadly missed by his family, many dear friends, and his cat Tigger and dog Jasper.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Verla Carpenter of Townville; his mother, Elizabeth Barrows of Meadville; a brother, Bruce E. Carpenter of Pacific Grove, CA; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; and two cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a service of prayer and memory at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Christine Rogan officiating.
