John M. Shryock, 79, of Meadville, died Sunday, June 29, 1997 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1918 in Meadville, a son of the late Robert L. and Genevieve Miller Shryock. He married Carmon Crandall August 20, 1938. She survives.
Mr. Shryock was a graduate of Meadville High School. He worked as an engineer for 37 years on the Erie, Erie-Lackawanna, and Conrail Railroads, retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 stationed in Italy. He was an automobile buff, enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was an animal lover.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, John Jeffrey Shryock of Meadville; one daughter, Constance Jenks of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters, Elizabeth Bailey of Meadville and Josephine Dillon of Cleveland, OH; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and also nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Shryock and a sister, Gertrude Watjen.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
