John Monda, 79, of 12416 Walnut Drive, Conneaut Lake, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Rankin, PA May 9, 1926 a son of Marcellino and Catherine Impavido Monda. He married Mary Alice Keefe August 5, 1969 and she survives.
He owned and operated John Monda’s Auto Supply on Liberty Street Ext. He subsequently operated with his wife Monda’s Gift Barn. He also worked at one time for Westinghouse.
He was a veteran of World War II with the US Army as an MP serving in General Patton’s 3rd Army. He was a member of the West Mead Volunteer Fire Dept., Huidekoper VFW Post #2006, Meadville Medical Center Stroke Support Group and a Red Coat Volunteer at the Grove Street facility of Meadville Medical Center.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 36 years, include: one daughter, Michelle Leedy and her husband Marty of Columbus, OH; one sister, Ann Delores Tokos of Palm Harbor, FL; one brother, Joseph Mondo and his wife Sharron of Key West, FL and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmanuel “Toby” and Andy.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Brown, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
