John Nelson Green, 66, of Meadville, a retired Alltel supervisor, died Wednesday, July 8, 1992, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born at Pittsburgh, November 5, 1925, a son of J. Nelson and Mytrle L. Kennedy Green. He married Jean Peters, November 5, 1947. She survives.
Green retired in 1987 as a supervisor at Alltel, where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, where he had been a church usher. He was a veteran of World War II where he served with the US Navy, was former scout master of Troop 2111, life member and past commander and current quartermaster of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, life member of the Military Order of the Cootie, life member of Meadville Rescue Squad, life member of the Meadville Club and a member of Elks Lodge 219.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, John N. (Jack) Green of Austin, TX; four daughters, Anita L. Gumiala, Kathleen S. Phillips, Judith A. Urey and Cheryl L. Wellmon, all of Meadville; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one aunt of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Gumiela.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
