John P. Stefanucci, 81, formerly of Meadville, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Crawford County Care Center.
He was born September 25, 1933 in Meadville, a son of Ralph and Caroline Catalino Stefanucci. He married Carole Graham September 1, 1951 and she preceded him in death August 9, 2005.
John was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High School, was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War, and subsequently served in the U.S. National Guard. He was the owner and operator of Stefan’s Shoes in Meadville, Erie, New Castle, and Edinboro. He subsequently worked at the Crawford County Prison for 7 years.
John was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a life-time member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219. He enjoyed building, woodworking, gardening, golfing, and wintering in Eustis, FL following retirement.
Survivors include two sons, David Stefanucci and his wife Lisa of Conneaut Lake and James (Jim) Stefanucci and his wife Debbie of Meadville; two daughters, Marianne Lockert and her husband Jim of Meadville and Diane Walker and her husband Randy of Meadville; ten grandchildren, Jill Uberti and her husband Anthony, Mike Stefanucci and his wife Megan, Jennifer Hruska, Johnny Severo, Jimmy Severo and his wife Laura, Cory Lockert and his wife Grace, Jackie Russell and her husband Andrew, Jay Lockert, Adam Bucsek, and Mark Bucsek; eleven great-grandchildren, Hayley Severo, Dominic Uberti, Vincent Uberti, Tucker Stefanucci, Emersyn Hruska, Annistyn Hruska, Jett Hruska, Mason Lockert, Madison Lockert, Kara Russell, and Khloe Russell; a sister, Marie Fridell and her husband John of Henderson, NV; and a cousin and dear friend, Frank Consiglio and his wife Mary of Saegertown.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John Stefanucci, Jr.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
