John R. Gleason

John Richard Gleason, 79, of 674 Park Ave., Meadville died Monday, December 04, 2006 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born in Meadville September 27, 1927 a son of Harold D. and Ethel Bentley Gleason.  He was first married to Dawn Ruby Yoder and subsequently married Judith Ann Perry.

He was the owner and operator of the family farm, Klover Knolls Dairy until 1973.  He then worked for Green’s Pharmacy until his retirement.

He was a member of Wayland Baptist Church and the International Order of Odd Fellows.  He was a history buff and he enjoyed his morning coffee at Burger King.

Survivors, include: four children, Jeffrey Gleason of Atlanta, GA, Kathi Zimmer and her husband Gary of Jefferson Hills, PA, Debra Runkel and her husband Steve of Wexford, PA and Jason Gleason of Pittsburgh, PA; four step-children, Dee Dee McDonald of Martin, TN, Kimberly Fisher and her husband Kenneth of St. Louis, MO, Julie Morabito of East Brady, PA and Frank Adams of Meadville; one sister, Helen Hill and her husband Richard of Waynesboro, PA; one brother, Walter Gleason and his wife Betty of Meadville; eight grandchildren, Jessica Waddell, Zachary Zimmer, Darcie Dahl, Diana Dahl, Justin Runkel, Tyler Gleason, Corbin Gleason and Caitlin Gleason; seven step-grandchildren, Rebecca McDonald, Bethany Fisher, Justin Fisher, Hallie Fisher, Ryan Morabito, Corey Morabito and Julia Adams; four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Harriet Handley, Evelyn Yoder, Mary Lou Hillman and Ruth McBride; his identical twin brother, Edward D. Gleason and one step grandson, Dominic Adams.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Wayland Baptist Church, 11603 S. Wayland Road, Meadville with the Rev. Harlan Nefsted, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Wayland Cemetery.
