John W. Baxter, 62, of Conneaut Lake and formerly of Niles, OH, died Sunday, November 30, 2003, at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born February 12, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of John F. T. and Elizabeth L. Forse Baxter. He married JoAnn R. Anerino in January 1980; she preceded him in death December 24, 2001.
He served with the US Navy for four years during the Vietnam era. He retired from General Motors, Lordstown Division, in 2000 after 38 years of service.
He was a former member of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, Conneaut Lake and a member of United Auto Workers of America. He enjoyed and was very meticulous with his yard work and flower gardening.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth L. (Betty) Baxter of Conneaut Lake; a daughter, Kimberly Jo Roper (Ward) of Orwell, OH; a sister, Norma Jean Baxter of Conneaut Lake; two brothers, Kevin M. Baxter (Partricia) of Linesville and Lorin A. Baxter of Meadville; five grandchildren, Ashlynn Ann Roper, Denver Naaman Roper, Bryce Collier Roper, Hanson Levi Roper and Kenyon Sterling Roper and several nieces and nephews.
His father and his wife, Jo Ann, preceded him in death.
Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake.
