John W. 'Jack' Rifenberrick

June 12, 1951 — December 21, 2002

John W. (Jack) Rifenberrick, 51, of Summit Twp., died at home Saturday, December 21, 2002, after an illness of the past 4 years.

He was born in Meadville June 12, 1951, a son of Lowry M. & Helen Irene Boyer Rifenberrick.  He married Linda E. Hart Oct. 2, 1971, and she survives.

He was a 1969 graduate of Linesville High School, served with the U. S. Air Force, from 1971 to 1975, during the Viet Nam Conflict, and graduated from Penn State University in 1979 with a degree in Business Administration.

He was last employed as a package handler for United Parcel Service, with 15 years of service.  He previously was employed at Avtex of Meadville, and had operated his own Christmas Tree Farm.

He had been an Auditor for Vernon Twp. at one time and also Summit Twp.

He was a member of Harmonsburg United Methodist Church and had served on various committees at the church.  He was also a member of the Christmas Tree Growers Association.

Survivors in addition to his wife of 31 years, include his father of Meadville; two sons, Eric Rifenberrick of Carlisle, and Matthew Rifenberrick at home, two sisters, Carol Rifenberrick of Richmond, VA, and Susan Harris of Sibley, MO; a brother, James M. Rifenberrick of Meadville, and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his Mother.

Calling hours will be Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and at Harmonsburg United Methodist Church Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.  Officiating will be the Rev. Timothy Solomon, pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, and the Rev. Allan K. Harris, pastor of Harmonsburg United Methodist Church.

Following cremation, burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335, the Oncology Dept. of Meadville Medical Center, 751 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335, or Harmonsburg United Methodist Church, 14182 First St., Harmonsburg, PA 16422.
