John W. Tracy, 81, of United Methodist Nursing Home and Hospital, died Sunday, July 15, 1984, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, after an extended illness.
He was born in Cherry Tree Township, Venango County, February 2, 1903, a son of William H. and Bessie B. Hotchkiss Tracy. He married Gladys Burgwin, June 2, 1926. She preceded him in death October 21, 1981.
Mr. Tracy was president of Merchant Bank and Trust Co. and worked as city controller for 19 years. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church. Other memberships included Meadville Country Club and Crawford County Shrine Club and Crawford County Hospital Authority Board of Directors. He was also a past board member of City Hospital and of the United Methodist Home and Hospital.
Mr. Tracy was awarded the Dr. Harry C. Winslow Man of the Year Award in 1974 by Meadville Area Industrial Commission.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Les (Ann) Morton of Medford, NJ and Mrs. Edward (Jeannette) Lees of Boise, ID; a son, John R. Tracy of Meadville; two step sisters, Mrs. Ben (Mary) McMahan and Mrs. Carlisle (Mildred) Vanderhoof, both of Titusville; a stepbrother, Lawrence Osten of Meadville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
