John L. (Jack) York, 90, of Guys Mills died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Crawford County Care Center.
He was born June 6, 1928 in Cochranton a son of Edwin M. and Helen J. Myers York. He and Norma F. McFadden where sweethearts and companions for 70 years and she preceded him in death November 18, 2018.
He was a graduate of Cochranton High School and worked as a truck driver for W. L. Dunn for over 40 years. Then in his retirement, he worked for Proper Cutter in Guys Mills. He enjoyed boating, camping and farming. He especially loved sitting on the front porch with Norma enjoying the day.
He is survived by two nephews, Joe York (Joyce) of Meadville and Don York of Conneaut Lake; two nieces, Cheri York of Conneaut Lake and Elaine Ada (Jerry) of Columbus, GA and several nieces and nephews on Norma’s side that loved him as their uncle and several great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. Jack also shared a special relationship with his great great nephew, Jacob Giliberto who shared a lot of time with Jack.
In addition to his sweetheart, Norma and his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Bill and Sam York.
Calling hours will be Monday, June 3rd from 12-2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Mike Chausse, officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Randolph Volunteer Fire Dept., 11475 State Hwy 198, Guys Mills, PA 16327 or the Townville Vol. Fire Dept. and Ambulance Service, 33441 N. Main Street, Townville, PA 16360.
