Joseph A. Kelyman, Jr., 43, of Conneautville, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
He was born July 19, 1969 in Meadville, a son of Joseph and Barbara Randall Kelyman, Sr. He married Tara Plocica September 18, 1993.
Joe was a 1988 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High and was a member of the football team. He continues to hold the single season receiving yards record at MASH and was selected all conference at 3 positions. He worked as a tool and die maker for Bra-Vor Tool and Sipco. He subsequently worked for 7 years for PennDot.
A member of Linesville First Baptist Church, Joe was also a member of the Norrisville Sportsman’s Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 169, Venango.
The joy and love of Joe’s life were his 2 daughters. He was especially proud of them, actively involved in all their activities, and enjoyed coaching their soccer and softball teams. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, farming and raising beef cattle with his dad, and cooking for family and friends. He will be deeply missed for his practical jokes and sense of humor.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Tara, include two daughters, Alysha and Krista Kelyman, both at home; his mother, Barbara Kelyman of Meadville; two sisters, Cheryl Covelli and her husband Nick of Austin, TX and Laurie Vaughn of Conneaut Lake; a nephew, Donny Vaughn of Conneaut Lake; a niece, Sara Vaughn of Conneaut Lake; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
