Joseph A. Paden, Jr.

June 21, 1941 — December 1, 2013

Joseph A. Paden, Jr., 72, of Meadville, passed away at home surrounded by his family, Sunday, December 01, 2013.

He was born in Alliance, OH June 21, 1941 a son of Joseph A. Paden, Sr. and Mina Scrivens Paden White and his step-father, John White.  He married Sandra Seymour July 21, 1990.

He worked as a Conductor and Brakeman on the Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and Norfolk Southern Railroads retiring in 2001 after 40 years of service.  He was a 1961 graduate of Randolph/East Mead High School.  He was a member of the Vernon Central Fire Hall, East Mead Vol. Fire Dept., Stafford American Legion Post #111, Saegertown American Legion Post #205, Meadville Rescue Squad and served on the Board of Relief.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Sandra of 23 years, include: three children, Robin Hawk of Euless, TX, Joseph W. Paden and his wife Teresa of Saegertown and Judi Whitcomb and her husband Tim of Harborcreek; two step-daughters, Wendy Lynch and her husband Steve of Meadville and Stacy Sherretts and her husband Wayne of Conneautville; eight grandchildren Phillip Denman and his wife Christy, Ryan Paden, Brendon Paden, Michael Whitcomb, Adam Whitcomb, Tyler Lynch, Kyle Lynch and Nicholas Lynch; a great grandson, Zachary Denman; three sisters, Dorothy Hubert and her husband John of Franklin, Jeannette Gantt and her husband George of Andalusia, AL, Cheryl Baker and her husband Kenneth of Hermitage; three brothers, Frank Paden of Frenchtown, John Paden and his wife Janet of Cochranton and Tim Paden of Franklin and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The service will follow Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Benjamin Travis, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.
