Joseph A. Prenatt, 89, died Saturday, August 19, 1961, at the Methodist Home for the Aged.
He was born in Randolph Township, February 16, 1872, a son of George and Alice Rush Prenatt. He was educated in schools in the county and early in his youth developed an interest in woodlands.
As a young man, he went into the Pacific Northwest and joined a lumber crew, becoming a sawyer for many of the large outfits in Washington.
In the early 1900s, he spent three years as a sawyer in the Philippine Islands. Before returning to the US, he visited many of the old port of the orient.
He married Blanche B. Shaffer of Meadville, at Kirkland, WA, April 18, 1939, and shortly after the couple returned to Meadville. She died several years ago.
Mr. Prenatt was a member of Grace Methodist Church and of its Men's Bible Class.
He is survived by a brother, Marcel of Buffalo, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
