Joseph C. Satterlee, age 91, of Vernon Township, passed away from multiple myeloma on September 22, 2019, at home surrounded by family.
Joe was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 20, 1928, son of Harold W. and Alma Janet (Case) Satterlee of Littles Corners, Crawford County, PA. He was the eldest of five children. A graduate of Meadville High School Class of 1946, he served in the U. S. Army during the Berlin Airlift after which he attended Youngstown College to study engineering. He married Evelyn Gibson on May 5, 1951.
Joe worked at American Brakeshoe, GTI, and DIC Tool and retired as an engineer from Supreme Lighting Corp. in Mullins, SC. He was an active member of Watson Run Presbyterian Church, Vernon Township Planning Commission, numerous civic and Masonic organizations including Crawford Lodge 234 and the Zem Zem Shrine, and was a ham radio operator (KA3IPM). Joe and his wife lovingly maintained her family homestead. He looked for the good in everything, and he was kind, wise, and always cheerful.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, Joe is survived by daughter, Deborah Corll (Daniel) of Meadville; son Charles (Cindi) of Meadville; grandchildren Michael Satterlee (Jim Nowlin) of Philadelphia, Daniel Satterlee of Omaha, Nebraska, Eric Corll (Elizabeth) of Columbus, OH, Heidi Corll of Meadville, Jeremy Corll (Jennifer) of Ellwood City, and Joseph Corll of Coraopolis, PA; great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Anderson and Samuel Corll; former daughter-in-law Deborah Satterlee of Pensacola, FL; sister Elizabeth Perrone of Niles, OH and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary, two sisters: Jane Stephens and Marjorie Miller; and brother David (Eddie).
Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE on Thursday, September 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Watson Run Presbyterian Church, 13594 Harmonsburg Road, Meadville with son-in-law Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Corll officiating. The Committal Service with military honors provided by VFW Post 2006 and a luncheon will immediately follow. Inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg, PA will be held at a later date.
