Joseph F. Tagliaferri, 74, of Meadville, died Monday, September 22, 1997 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
He was born August 29, 1923 in Meadville, a son of the late Paul and Adelina Christine Tagliaferri. He had been married to Rose Debaise.
Mr. Tagliaferri was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII from 1943 to 1946. He worked for 40 years at the former Viscose, FMC, Avtex, retiring in 1986 as a foreman. He was also the owner and operator of the former Laroma Pizza with locations on North Street and N. Main Street near Allegheny College. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and especially golfing. He recorded three holes-in-one during his lifetime.
Survivors include three daughters, Marlene Rose Ruppa of Orlando, FL, Charlene Scannell of Altamonte Springs, FL and Mary Jo Sauers of Apopka, FL; two sisters, Anne Donato of Meadville and Christine Taylor of Meadville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Tagliaferri and three sisters, Rita SanFelice, Mary Damico and Rose Spina.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Brigid Cemetery.
