Joseph H. King, 89 of Sandy Lake, passed away at 4:52 p.m. on August 8, 2018 at the Lakes at Jefferson in Hermitage, Pa. Joseph was born in Butler, Pa. on August 31, 1928 to the late Charles V. and Naomi Armstrong King. Joseph proudly served his country in both World War II and the Korean War in the United States Army. He entered basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga. and was stationed for many years at Ft. Richardson in Alaska. He earned the rank of Sergeant. Joseph worked for 40 years as a Surveyor and Civil Engineer for Pantech and Chester Engineers. He served as the Sandy Lake Town Constable in the 1960’s and was Road Commissioner for Otter Township from 2012-2014. He was also a Knothole League Coach in the 1960’s and started a Connie Mack Baseball League in 1968 for Mercer County. He coached the Lakeview Area team to the State Finals in 1969. Joseph was married to his loving wife, Anna Catherine “Cathy” King. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2018. Joseph is survived by his children, Richard King and his wife, Donna, of Edgewater, Md. , Gary King and his wife, Belinda, of Tampa, Fl, and Linda Reynolds of Sandy Lake, Pa. His grandchildren are Wendy, Sonya, Michelle, Gigi, and Amber. His great-grandchildren are Kindra, Brady, Chandler, Ian, Grace, Anna, Arden, Ricky, Michael, Christopher, Orion, Scotty, and Jenna, and his great-great-grandchildren are Owen, Jaidyn, and Kinleigh. He is also survived by his brothers Art King and his wife, Norma, of Bellefont, Pa., and David King and his wife, Darlene, of Ephrata, Pa, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his sisters Amy Birnley and Gloria Boyd, his brothers Paul and Donald King, his son-in-law Jerry and great-grandson Elijah. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Homes, located in Stoneboro and Sandy Lake. Family and friends are welcome from 12 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, 3461 Sandy Lake-New Lebanon Road, Sandy Lake, Pa. 16145, with the Reverend Beth Creekpaum, church Pastor, officiating. Following the service, Full Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. The Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
