Joseph H. Walls, Jr., 80, of Saegertown, died Monday, January 8, 1996, at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
He was born in Cherry Tree, PA, January 12, 1915, a son of the late Joseph H. and Gwendola Sutton Walls, Sr. He married Berneta Bogardus on January 15, 1938. She preceded him in death November 10, 1983. He subsequently had been married to Sandra Paille Prest Hall November 18, 1988.
He was the owner/operator of the Joseph H. Walls Painting Contractors working in the area for many years. Previously he had worked for five years for Penelec.
He was a member of Cochranton Community Church and former member of Meadville Alliance Church, where he was a former trustee and chairman of the Building Committee when the new church was built. He was also a member of the Gideons. He served with the US Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Lois) Hunter of Bradenton, FL; two sons, Ronald D. Walls of Orlando, FL and Timothy Walls of Saegertown; one sister, Mrs. William (Betty) Davern of Meadville; five brothers, Waldon D. Walls of Lincoln, NE, Jack S. Walls of Blooming Valley, Paul E. Walls of Meadville, Robert F. Walls of Grand Valley and Jerry Walls of Meadville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
