Joseph Wilson Hamilton, 91, of Meadville, died Monday afternoon at City Hospital after a long period of illness.
A son of the late Wilson L. and Jane DeRemer Hamilton, he spent his boyhood in this area before working in the oil fields near Kane as a youth. He later moved to Pittsburgh before moving to Marietta, OH, where he lived for 45 years.
About five years ago, he and his wife moved to Meadville where they resided with a daughter, Mrs. Marian Hamilton Pond. Mrs. Hamilton died in December of 1955.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Marietta and the Masonic Lodge at Vernona and the Pittsburgh Consistory.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Pond are another daughter, Mrs. Ira O. Waid of Princeton, NJ; two grandsons, John H. Pond of Balitmore, MD and Joseph L. Pond of Milwaukee, WI and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
