Joseph J. Husaem

Joseph J. Husaem, 96, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Crawford County Care Center following a period of declining health.

He was born March 13, 1916 in Meadville, a son of John and Anna Czyz Husaem.  He married Doris Baker April 22, 1950.

Joe was a 1937 graduate of Meadville High School and a graduate of Erie Business College.  He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of operations.  He was a member of Company E, 135th Infantry Division and was a recipient of 3 bronze stars and the Purple Heart.

Joe was employed by the Army Corps. of Engineers for 29 years, retiring in 1981.  He previously worked at Talon, the Department of Public Welfare and for the Erie Railroad.

He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake, the Knights of Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.  He enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Doris of 62 years, include two sisters, Anita Neustupa of Meadville and Stella Allen of Cleveland, OH; a brother-in-law, John Wasco of Springboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Callahan and Mary Wasco.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake with a scripture prayer service at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth St., Conneaut Lake with Fr. Steve Anderson as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
