Joseph Kelyman

January 12, 1932 — March 3, 2003

Joseph Kelyman, 71, of Meadville, died Monday, March 3, 2003 at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

He was born January 12, 1932 in Conneautville, a son of the late Charles and Mary Sasala Kelyman.  He married Bardara Randall May 7, 1955 and she survives.

He was a 1949 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School.  He worked for over 30 years as a police officer for the Meadville Police Department, retiring in 1990 as Sergeant.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #97; Pine Masonic Lodge #498, Linesville; Rundell's Grange, Conneautville; Norrisville Sportsman's Club and Vernon Central Fire Department.  He enjoyed hunting and farming and especially spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He attended Linesville First Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Cheryl Covelli (Nicholas) of Plano, TX and Laurie Vaughn (Jeff) of Conneaut Lake; a son, Joseph Kelyman, Jr. (Tara) of Conneautville; four grandchildren, Donny and Sara Vaughn and Alysha and Krista Kelyman; three step-grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael and Matthew Covelli; two brothers, Paul Kelyman (Jenny) of Conneautville and Peter Kelyman (Norma) of Meadville and four sisters, Anna Dean of Wattsburg, Margaret Horiso of Meadville, Helen Hornstein of Meadville and Irene Smalley (Eugene) of Girard.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Charles, George and Andrew Kelyman.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
