Joseph Scaduto, 83, of Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, June 18, 2000 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie following a period of declining health.
He was born May 19, 1917 in New Castle, a son of the late Fred and Antionette Scaduto. He married Mary Elizabeth Miller, May 5, 1941 and she preceded him in death October 23, 1976. He subsequently married Joanna Sidner May 29, 1982 and she survives.
He worked as a machine setter at Johnson Bronze of New Castle, retiring in 1978 following 41 years of service. He especially enjoyed being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 18 years, include a daughter, Carol Cubellis of New Castle and a son, John Scarduto (Toni) of New Castle; two grandchildren, Cynthia Wirtz and Lisa Johnson; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tony Scaduto of Sun City, CA and Sam Scaduto of California; seven step-children, Barbara Ryan, Darlene Redfoot, Harold and Virgil Steadman, Rosemary Freas, Patricia Spencer and Carolyn Griggs; thirteen step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Scaduto, who was killed during the Vietnam Conflict in 1968, a sister, Teresa Scocherra and two brothers, Charles and Jack Scaduto.
Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
