Josephine Franchina Davids, 83, formerly of Meadville, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington, NC.
She was born November 1, 1928 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of Samuel Franchina and Jennie Leone Franchina Jerrusso and stepdaughter of Joseph Jerrusso. She married Leon Theodore Davids, Jr. November 17, 1962 and he survives.
Josephine worked as a sales clerk at the former Wirt and Stevens Drug Store, Meadville for 11 years and subsequently worked for 25 years as the office manager and secretary for Dr. Kwang Y. Choi.
She was an avid bowler and bingo player and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and camping.
Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Leon of 49 years, include two sons, Phillip Henry Davis and his wife Laurie of Meadville and Michael Robert Davis and his wife Brenda of Lexington, NC; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Santina Genco and her husband Paul of Jamestown, NY; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and step-father, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Matthew Lane Hobby; a sister, Rose Reed; and two brothers, Sebastian and Lucian Franchina.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harvey Boal, Pastor of Cochranton Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
