Joyce E. Sorg

Joyce E. Sorg, 99, of Meadville, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at her residence.

She was born December 25, 1919 in Meadville, a daughter of Willard and Marjorie Thompson Ferguson.  She married Alex Kovac and had two sons.  She later married John H. Sorg on November 10, 1950.  He preceded her in death December 12, 1978.

Joyce was a 1937 graduate of Meadville High School.  A homemaker, she enjoyed fishing and loved baking cookies.  She was affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Kovac (Ruth) of Atlantic and Russell Kovac (Teresa) of Tempe, AZ; four grandchildren, Pamela Baumbach (Paul), Jeffrey Kovac (Karen), Mark Kovac (Mary Jo), and Valerie Kovac Kounovsky; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Mattern and Doris Dandrea.

Calling hours will be Friday, September 6th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Brumagin, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
