Joyce Elaine Plyler

Joyce Elaine Plyler, 80, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Crawford County Care Center.

She was born September 29, 1940 in Canfield, OH, a daughter of Donald E. and Mae Krause Berkey.  She married D. Blair Plyler July 24, 1959.

Joyce was a 1958 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.  She worked as a secretary for 20 years at Crawford Central School District and previously at Penncrest School District.

Joyce was a member of Living Waters Church.  She was a long-time church pianist and organist, enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, bowling, and loved doing crafts with her grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Blair, include six children, Susan Scott (Jeff) of Polk, Daniel Plyler (Deborah) of Guys Mills, Timothy Plyler (Wendy) of Meadville, Debra Hough (Ted) of Cambridge Springs, Michael Plyler (Mary) of Erie, and Donald Plyler (Jeannine) of Nescopeck; four sisters, Vivian Prine of Sparta, TN, Esther Boyer (Tom) of Sacramento, CA, Irene Hixon of Sparta, TN, and Carol Clemance (Charles) of Nanaimo, British Columbia; a brother, James Berkey (Bonnie) of Niles, OH; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Berkey.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, January 31st from 2 to 5 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the wearing of masks is required.

The funeral service will be Monday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Martinez, Pastor of Living Waters Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
