Joyce M. Duckworth

Joyce M. Duckworth, 89 of Vernon Twp, Meadville, passed away on November 26, 2022, at the Embassy of Park Ave., Meadville. Joyce was born in New Brockton, Alabama on August 17, 1933, to the late Idus and Willie Lee (Adkison) Martin.

Joyce was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church for many years and sang in the choir and organized the greeters. She also filled bags for shut-ins at Christmas time. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and crossword puzzles. She loved Wheel of Fortune and was a master of Jeopardy. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She married her beloved husband, John G. Duckworth, on July 2, 1950. He survives at home. The couple recently celebrated 72 years of marriage.

Also surviving are her children; David (Connie) Duckworth of Shelby Twp, MI, Dan (Sharon) Duckworth of Meadville, and Carole (Steve) Fisher of Cochranton, grandchildren: Nathan, Isaac, John, Justin, Meghan, Patrick, Hannah, Jackie, and Jeremy, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and their dog Rex.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Wilneff, and two granddaughters.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE

Calling hours will be from 1 pm – 2 pm on Sunday, December 11 at Grace United Methodist Church, 828 N. Main Street, Meadville. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Richard Foland, Jr., church pastor, officiating, and Retired Reverends Becky and Eddie Patterson, assisting.

Memorials may be made in Joyce’s name to Grace United Methodist Church.
