Judithe Ann Coon

July 30, 1941 — December 19, 2017

Judithe Ann (Judy) Coon, 76, of Meadville died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born July 30, 1941 in Conneautville a daughter of Chester Seavy and Erba Gertrude Cole Coon.

She was a 1959 graduate of Cochranton High School.  She worked at the former City Hospital in Central Supply, then moved to Michigan where she lived and worked for several years.  She returned to Meadville and worked at Fostermation for 15 years and then returned to the medical field working at Meadville Medical Center as a Surgical Care Unit Assistant.  She would also volunteer at Meadville Medical Center and the Meadville Soup Kitchen.  She was a member of Park Congregational Church and was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Golden Crown Chapter #44 Order of Eastern Star.  She was honored to be appointed Grand Representative of the State of Rhode Island and Deputy Grand Matron of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

She is survived by a son, Gregg West and his wife Krista of Butler; four grandsons, Caedon, Grant, Tye and Quinn West; five sisters, Alvira Peterson and her husband Homer of Meadville, Shirley Layman of Mesa, AZ, Harriette Hoffman and her husband Wayne of Meadville, Karen Johnson and her husband Ray of Cochranton and Wilma Means and her husband Darrell of Saegertown; three brothers, William Arnold Coon of Ashtabula, OH, Raymond Coon and his wife Florence of Meadville and Melvin Coon and his wife Terry of Salem, IN; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Coon of Meadville and Carol Coon of Meadville; a brother-in-law, Victor Rudy, Jr. of Conneaut Lake; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and her long-time special friend, Judy Ridle of Meadville and her grandchildren, John, Monica, Cassidy, Taylor and Kristopher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester Jr., George, Lawrence and Ronald Coon; five sisters, Irene Dillaman and her husband Clayton, Sarah May York and her husband Bill, Betty Beckman and her husband Wayne, Viola Rudy and Erbe June Coon; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Coon Boyd and Evelyn Coon and two brothers-in-law, Clifford Burk and Lyle Layman, Sr.

Calling hours will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with an Eastern Star service at 7:45 p.m.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Brumagin, officiating.

Interment will be in Reichel Cemetery, Cussewago Twp., Crawford Co.
