Judy Daly

Judy Daly, 77, of Meadville, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Meadville Medical Center. She was born February 20, 1939 in Union City, a daughter of Harper and Bette Fleming Davenport. She married John P. Daly June 18, 1960 and he survives. Judy was a 1957 graduate of Meadville High School and a 1973 graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and early childhood education. Judy had worked at the Meadville Head Start and subsequently was an elementary school teacher for 34 years, initially at Randolph East Mead and then Maplewood, retiring in 2000. She loved teaching to "all of her little people." She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania Assoc. of School Retirees, and Alpha Gamma Delta. She was a volunteer at Meadville Medical Center and with Big Brothers and Sisters of Crawford County. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading, and cooking. Survivors, in addition to her loving husband John of 56 years, include a son, John Patrick Daly, II of Conneaut Lake; five sisters, Bunny McLaud and her husband John of Skaneateles, NY, Jayne Poss and her husband Bill of Aspen, CO, Susan Karpenski and her husband Marty of Florham Park, NJ, Jennifer Davenport of Santa Fe, NM, and Jill Goetz and her husband Jim of Bozeman, MT; three brothers, Jon Tod Davenport and his wife Marion of Valentine, NE, Jeffrey Davenport of Meadville, and Jody Davenport and his wife Cassie of Carbondale, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Saturday, September 17th at the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
