Julia Anne “Mom” Hager, 95, of Hager Road, Meadville, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Uniontown, PA November 1, 1911 a daughter of John H. and Minerva Sutton Gaskill. She married W. Donald Hager June 14, 1931 and he preceded her in death in 1980.
She was a graduate of Uniontown High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband mange the family farm on Hager Road. She was a member of Watson Run Church of God and its Ladies Guild and the Steam Engine Society. She enjoyed crocheting and was known for her cooking always welcoming family, friends and neighbors at meal time. She sold bread she baked, maple syrup she made and pork she butchered for several years at the Market House. She also canned much of the produce she grew in her large garden.
Survivors, include: two sons, Harold Hager and his wife Twila of Atlantic and David Hager and his wife Karen of Meadville; one daughter, Gladys Nichols and her husband Rich of Meadville; an adopted son, David King and his wife Leigh of Sandy Lake; a son-in-law, Jim Warren of Meadville; thirteen grandchildren, Ralph Acker and his companion Judy Troy, Dodie Agnew, Wallace Nichols and his wife Sherry, Robin Kline and her husband Edward, Debbie Wiliford, Kim Hyde, Donald Hager and his wife April, Grump Hager, John Hager, Tawnia Price and her husband Mark, Eric Hager and his wife Amanda, Lauren Davis and her husband Joe and Beth King, twenty three great grandchildren, fifteen great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Germaine L. Warren; a sister, Charlotte; brothers, Walter, Otto, Charles and an infant brother; a grandson, John Nichols; a granddaughter, Dana King and a grandson-in-law, Dennis Agnew.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ken Hough, Pastor of Watson Run Church of God, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
