Julie A. Yanacek

Julie A. Yanacek, 62, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Meadville Medical Center following a 2-year courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Erie August 6, 1943, a daughter of the late Norman and Helen Jenkins Wescott.

She was a 1961 graduate of Meadville High School and attended Edinboro University and Los Angeles City College.  She previously worked in the Los Angeles and Hollywood, CA areas.

She helped start the Parent-Teacher Organization at Second District School.  She was past president of the resident association at Fairview Fairmont Housing Corporation. She was instrumental in helping to obtain funds from the Meadville Rotary Club to establish a playground and benches at Fairview Fairmont.  She enjoyed raising plants, reading, traveling, and visiting with friends and family.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Bizjak and her husband Stephen of Lake Wales, FL; her loving companion of 24 years, John Myers of Meadville; a brother, David Wescott of Carmel Valley, CA; 2 sisters, Susan Motzer and her husband Dennis of Meadville and Vicki Griffin and her husband Les of Highland, TX; 2 granddaughters, Paige MaKenna and Olivia Grace Bizjak; 2 step-granddaughters, Nichol and Stephanie Bizjak; and 6 nephews and 2 nieces.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.
