June M. Jolley, 95, formerly of Saegertown and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since 1995, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Lyona (Richmond Twp.), PA April 24, 1916 a daughter of Earl Marvin and Mabel Stuart Osgood. She married Harold E. Willey in 1935. After his death in 1941, she married Willis E. Merritt in 1946. After his death in 1993, she moved to Wesbury and later became a reader for the Rev. Dr. Delbert E. Jolley, whom she married in 2001. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She graduated from New Richmond eleven year High School in 1932 and from Meadville High School in 1934. She was employed in sales and accounting at F.W. Woolworth, The Crawford Store and Montgomery Ward.
She was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church, where she served in various capacities, including: United Methodist Women, Worship Committee, Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen. She was also active in community programs, including: New Richmond School Board, Lyona Friendship Club, Lyon’s Valley Cemetery Association and the Woodcock Twp. Ladies Group.
Survivors, include: a daughter, Nancy W. Crago and her husband Charles of Meadville; two sons, Larry L. Merritt of Salem, OR and Bruce E. Merritt and his wife Rhonda of Aurora, CO; son-in-law, Robert B. Shallop of Duncansville, PA; a step-son, Dr. Robert E. Jolley of Topsfield, MA; two step-daughters, Judy Ramsay of Lexington, KY and Kathryn Madej of Washington, PA; eight grandchildren, Kathleen Smith, Thomas Shallop, Jill Burchfield, Jeffrey Crago, Jody Crago, Steven Merritt, Scott Merritt and Tyler Hank, six step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Shallop; three sisters, Ruby Grosart, Faye DeNoon and Betty Jean Webb.
Calling hour will be Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in McCracken Chapel of Cribbs Home of Wesbury.
Interment will be in Lyons Valley (Lyona) Cemetery.
