Karl C. Gilbert

Karl C. Gilbert, 94, of Guys Mills and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center since December 2003 died there Friday, February 22, 2008.

He was born in Guys Mills September 10, 1913 a son of Clinton and Mattie Oaks Gilbert.  He married Virginia E. Cutshall June 8, 1940 and she preceded him in death December 29, 2003.

He was a life-long farmer owning and operating Cool Spring Farm with his brother Kenneth.

He was a member of United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills where he was also a former Sunday School teacher.  He was a graduate of Randolph High School.

Survivors, include: Larry Gilbert and his wife Ellen of Santa Rosa, CA, William Gilbert and his wife Wendy of Elliot, ME, Richard Gilbert and his wife Elaine of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Douglas Gilbert of Guys Mills and Robert Gilbert and his wife Barbara of Glenshaw, PA, fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Gilbert and Ruth Ewing and a brother, Kenneth Gilbert.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Coddington, Pastor of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills,
