Katherine E. Jenkins

April 30, 1869 — January 1, 1753

Mrs. Katherine E. Jenkins, 81, widow of the late George W. Jenkins, died Friday evening at her home in Meadville.  She was a mother of Miss Mildred Jenkins, school principle of East End.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David T. McKay, she was a teacher in Crawford County public schools for several years before her marriage.  She was a graduate of Edinboro State Teachers College.

Until her retirement two years ago, Mrs. Jenkins was a Sunday School teacher at Grace Methodist Church for more than 50 years and had taught the Grace Church Womens Class since 1922.  She also was a member of the Grace Church Womens Society of Christian Service, Meadville Grange and the national Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Jenkins spent her early life in the Black Ash community and lived in Edinboro and Pittsburgh before coming to Meadville.  She was a half-sister to David T. McKay, Jr., who was Crawford County Prothonotary for many years.

Surviving, in addition to Miss Jenkins, are two other daughters, Mrs. C. F. Ware of Meadville and Mrs. Russell B. Mosier of Corry; two sons, David T. Jenkins of Meadville and Robert F. Jenkins of Cleveland; one brother, Charles McKay of Titusville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Black Ash Cemetery.
