Kathryn (Graham) Ferguson

Kathryn (Kay) Ferguson, 90, of Conneaut Lake, passed away peacefully Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Grace Health Center at Wesbury Community with her loving family by her side.

She was born September 17, 1928 in Jefferson Hills, PA to the late Paul B. and Margaret (Tepe) Graham.  She grew up with two brothers and two sisters.

After graduating from Clairton High School, she attended California State Teachers College of PA, earning a B.S. in Education and being awarded Most Outstanding Student.  Her teaching career began in West Jefferson Hills School District where she taught English and Social Studies.

In 1950, Kay married the late William J. Gregg.  They had two children and lived in several different towns in Pennsylvania and Ohio.  During those years, she continued teaching part-time in a number of schools in both states.  In 1989, Kay made her home in Conneaut Lake.  She worked part-time for Sousa Realty.

On December 30, 1999, she married William S. Ferguson, Jr.  They resided in Conneaut Lake but looked forward to spending several months each year in Fort Myers, FL.  Kay’s faith was always an important part of her life.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, serving on the Christian Education Committee and as Superintendent of the Sunday School.  Her love of teaching led her to become a tutor with the Crawford County READ Program.

Kay was also a member of the Iroquois Club, Station 3 and 5 Fire Halls, Conneaut Lake Historical Society, and Midway Card Club.  She was an avid reader, loved traveling, and enjoyed watching sports on TV.  She was a long suffering but loyal fan of Cleveland sports, a passion she shared with her son and grandson.  One of her greatest joys was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she called her sunshine.  Some of her favorite times were spent watching them participate in various sports and activities.  Proud and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kay is survived by her son William J. Gregg (Deborah), daughter Kathy L. Kramer (David), grandchildren David J. Kramer (Katie), Amy M. Jackson (Keith), and Hope C. Gregg, and great-granddaughters Caroline G. and Hallie A. Jackson.  She is also survived by her sister Anna J. Zadach (Donald), many nieces and nephews, step-children Susan Nicklas (Dr. John), Patricia A. Ferguson (Ricky Haun), Pamela A. Ferguson, Richard S. Ferguson (Pamela), step-grandchildren Scott F. Nicklas (Summer), Brian S. Ferguson, Stacey L. Pittner (Greg), and Bradly S. Ferguson, step-great-grandson Luke Nicklas, and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, William Ferguson, she was preceded in death by brothers Paul and Eugene Graham, sister Margaret Miller, and an infant son.

Family and friends may call on Friday, November 16th from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, November 17th from 10-11 a.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE where the funeral service will follow Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Sam Heagy, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, officiating.
